That was hilarious. I could just hear him in my head saying that stuff.

Seriously though, those guys do what they do for free and I dont think anyone else would be reliable as them week in and week out for that. Leave them where they are. People hate Madden rambling ass, but he aint going no where.

At this point, I would prefer total silence.

At least silence won't have me confused about the down and distance and who is actually in the game at the time.

professor, they were pretty darn bad. no energy what so ever! couldn't even tell when something big was going on b/c they kept it monotone.

Martin and Wheeler will have to make that call. Spence is an institution. I've listened to him and Mel for close to 40 years and have enjoyed them in earlier days and have the upmost respect for them but its time to retool things on a graceful note.

What do you think about the idea of maybe a new addition like Semaj, or perhaps someone like myself in the booth to help them out?

A1, they are beyond help now. We need a fresh play-by-play voice. You could do it, someone from outside or maybe even the young kid, Justin. But something needs to change.

The graceful way to do it is to add a new play-by-play guy and let Spencer, Mel and Billy do color on an alternating basis. It's obvious that they don't do any homework before the game when they are struggling to find out who "#1" is after Raper made the 13-yd run. They don't know anything about the players, it was just bad.

Another way is to let them do a pre-game, halftime and post game show. That would give them an hour of radio time just not during the game. Honor them at Homecoming this year and let them ride off into the sunset.

Good thoughts Maxell! They should let some of the youngins in Crosby audition, if Justin's not in school anymore, to see who could handle it.

me too! i listened to the broadcast while sitting in the traffic jam before kickoff, and the play by play as well as the commentary was horrible. it was as if fobbs' losing streak took a long term toll on spencer and mel.

but don't get me wrong, those guys have been broadcasting aggie football for a very long time. and for those of us who aren't local, its always good to hear those familiar voices when returning to greensboro for a game. that's why maxell's idea is a good one. but we definitely need some new blood doing the play by play...
