I'm proposing we allow threads with signings from our opponents be allowed to stay in this forum for a few days since it could potentially impact us.

ncpreps.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1320738There are just too many schools playing football and recruiting in NC. Charlotte will put a big dent in recruiting at out level. Also Old Dominion is dipping there hands in the state and Central is now 1AA. I'm glad we have Broadway on our side.

I wouldn't worry about that to much Sharpless. NC high school football has REALLY picked up with the number of kids that CAN play Div1. Schools in the Triangle have stepped their game way up as far as taking it seriously. Pop Warner and other organizations literally have 100s of teams in the same city, so kids in NC are playing serious football at a much younger age which translates to more skilled athletes at the high school level.
The old school Fayetteville and Coastal teams no longer dominate the East because of the new attitude of coaching and breading football players across all of NC. So the extra schools like Charlotte and NCCU and the new programs like Campbell shouldn't change how many in-state quality kids we can land by much. For example, Wake County builds a new high school about every 3 years since around 1995. They currently have 20 schools(up from 11 back in 1995) that play football, with 2 MORE schools opening in 2013 and 2014 to make it 22 total. We actually needed more colleges cause their was a player explosion for a minute. North Carolina high school population growth is one of the biggest in the entire country percentage wise.

The old school Fayetteville and Coastal teams no longer dominate the East because of the new attitude of coaching and breading football players across all of NC... i dunno about that one, monster. my high school alma mater (new bern) is only 2 years removed from winning the 4AA state championship. havelock high school (our intra county arch rivals) just went undefeated averaging nearly 50 points per game and won the 3A state championship this past season. i wouldn't say down east teams have dropped off any. can't win the state championship every year like the charlotte independence of old. most of the larger metropolitan areas are not in the east, but the east is still very strong nonetheless...

They HAVE NOT dropped off, but the Triangle has picked up. Wake Forest was first Wake County Team in a while to make State Championship, Garner just made it again for the first time since their state title. Leesville, Hillside(state champ), Riverside(loss to Independence) have all made at least the semis if not the finals. All doing it going through far eastern opponents.
Now someone from Wake or Durham makes it on a regular basis. Those Fayetteville teams used to come up to the Triangle and blast the hell out of local teams. Or we used to go down there and get the dawg $@#! beat out of us. Now, not so much. Playing Hoggard, New Bern, and/or Byrd are not automatic losses any more. There are even big time match-ups now that draws thousands of fans. Back in the 90s that rarely went on in the triangle unless it was playoff time
I just said the Eastern teams dont dominate. They are still good, but they used to blow the Triangle out of the water aside from the usual suspects like Garner, sometimes Millbrook, etc. Leesville and Wake Forest were horrible back in the day and they are constant contenders now. Not to mention Wakefield, Southern Durham, Hillside, SouthEast Raleigh, Fuquay, Middle Creek, and Panther Creek. The Triangle has grown in population more than any other area in the State. Football couldn't stay below parr.

Oh, and being "metropolitan" is a curse in Wake county cause when the county population reaches a certain point they build a new school and break up football teams. 2 schools are currently being built that will shake up northern Wake where Wake Forest, Wakefield, Knightdale, and Heritage are. Their programs will take huge hits, but the areas is growing so much it may not even be noticed.
So being rural has its advantages also.

So being rural has its advantages also. who you calling "rural"? hey, you don't think we build new schools down east? naw, just messing with ya, monster. i'm not close enough to north carolina high schools anymore to accurately judge one way or the other. given that the largest population centers start from raleigh and goes west from there, it's always amazed me how strong down east teams have been in recent years. i mean, in addition to new bern and havelock, greenville rose also won back to back 4A championships not too long ago. and west craven has been a state wide powerhouse too. all of those schools are within 35 miles of each other. actually, new bern, havelock, and west craven are all within 15 miles or so of each other...

Yeah your rural, lol. I can get to Millbrook, Knightdale, Wake Forest, Wakefield, Heritage, East Wake, Sanderson all less than 10-15 minutes from my house. They building a new school within walking distance that opens in 2014. they dont let the schools get but so big in Wake County. If a population reaches a certain number its time for a new school. That will always hender a Wake county school(especially one in Raleigh city limits) from winning the state championship in football.

Monster how do you think NC compares to Texas high schools in general. My son plays at a 4A Texas HS. Do they have spring football in NC now ? In Texas all HS can have 17 full contact practices and two scrimmages in the spring

No : N.C. has no spring ball. Being from N.C. now Tx. I would say at the 4A/5A in Tx which would be 4AA in NC I would say speed players RB's,QB,DB,Receivers,Return men (Texas), DL, OL,,LB, (NC). I don't think that you can find a RB or QB down here without 1,000 running and passing yards and most Receivers also. Most High school ball here is like home. You have, say page we have Lancaster or Carroll (Southlake, TX) that are always in the running.

In Texas all HS can have 17 full contact practices and two scrimmages in the spring Definitely not in NC. the only thing you can do is the Spring is lift weights unless you want a big fat fine. NC will never have 5A because certain counties just dont like their schools that crowded. they just dont build them that big to support a 5A population. The serious schools have a lot of off-season workout stuff that they consider "mandatory", but no contact or pads are allowed. As far as attendance. That varies depending on the region you are in. I cant speak for Charlotte, but in the Triangle it just depends on the rivalry. In-conference games when the top teams are playing are normally well attended, while games by the bottom half of the league only have the home team band a few hundred kids and relatives in the stands, lol.
